KJFM SPORTS — The Louisiana High School track team has accomplished so much with only a few weeks into the 2023 track season. Many members have placed overall in their events and took home medals. The Bulldogs are hoping to make their mark this tonight, at the Bowling Green meet.
The track team just recently competed this past Saturday at Holt High School in Wentzville. They pushed through the cold and windy conditions bringing home medals in a few events. They did extremely well this past Thursday at the Monroe City meet. The boys took home first place in the overall team category and the girls took second. Many members also won their individual events. Sophomore Alli Jenkins took home first in javelin and sophomore Jordan Pedersen did the same with the girls high jump event. On the boys side of things, senior Jase Luck took first in javelin, junior Alex Dzierwa did the same with the 300m hurdles, and sophomore Jamal Blackwell also took first in high jump and the 100m hurdles. The boys 4x100m relay also took first this past Thursday.
Coach Tommy Fallert has an optimistic standpoint believing they can possibly win the whole meet this evening.
Fallert says, “I think the expectations are pretty high for the girls team. They tag up really well against the competition and I think they have a shot to compete for a first-place overall as a team.”
He also says that the boys will be a little more JV-heavy tonight to try and get some more kids in for participation. Fallert believes that they will still compete well and bring home several medals in the events. Player wise, Fallert believes, on the girls side of things, Alli Jenkins and Alivia Perrine will do really when when it comes to throwing javelin. The Bulldogs returning state relays should perform really well in the nice weather, and Jordan Pedersen with her high jump. Boys wise, Jamal Blackwell with his high jump and triple jump, the boys relays are “starting to take off and perform at a level that they expect”, and Jase Luck is extremely close to breaking the school record with javelin. They look forward to seeing all of these members perform to their best this evening.
The Louisiana track team will be competing at the Bowling Green meet this evening. The field events start at 4pm with the running events to follow.
