
SILEX, Mo. – The Silex Owls took the lead late and defeated Louisiana 8-6 on Monday. The Owls were down 6-5 in the bottom of the fifth inning when Hunter Hubbard grounded out, scoring two runs.
Both pitching staffs had their hands full, frequently dealing with runners on base. Silex collected five hits and Louisiana had two.
In the first inning, Louisiana got their offense started. Syler Feldewerth singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.
In the bottom of the third inning, Silex tied things up at three when Tyler Twellman singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.
Hubbard got the start for the Owls. He lasted three innings, allowing one hit and three runs while striking out five.
Jack Logan was on the mound for Louisiana. The pitcher allowed two hits and three runs over three innings, striking out seven. Brady Fisher and Wyatt Martin entered the game from the bullpen, throwing two innings and one inning respectively.
Josh Price led Silex with two hits in four at bats.
