LOUISIANA, Mo. — Bethany Cemetery was established in 1894 and is located just off HWY 54 on Hwy U in Louisiana, MO. This is a small cemetery with great potential. The board of directors has recently decided to increase the cash reward for the cemetery’s missing plat-book from $500 to $2,000. After years of searching and leads that were dead ends, they would like the public to know just how priceless this original plat-book is to the future of the cemetery. They are hopeful that this reward will bring more attention to their desperate need for the plat-book.
Bethany Cemetery has over 280 people laid to rest and a little over half of the cemetery’s 32 lots are occupied. There are 47 people that are buried at Bethany Cemetery without any record of where they are laid to rest. These poor souls have no tombstones that can be found. Please help the board of Bethany Cemetery on their mission to find the plat-book and get those individuals the memorial stones they deserve. The plat-book holds all the information that is needed to continue to offer plot sales. It contains names, dates and locations to all who are laid to rest at Bethany Cemetery.
The donations barely cover the cost of lawn maintenance and they are always seeking new donations – no amount is too big or too small. If you have questions please contact Tracy Brookshier, Secretary at 314-971-5886.
