SALISBURY, Mo. — The Salisbury community continues to receive an outpouring of thoughts and prayers as they grieve the loss of junior athlete London White and look to transition to a process of healing.
The Salisbury R-IV District shared the tragic news of the teen’s death on Monday. White was a standout athlete on the football field and the basketball court for the Panthers.
Salisbury defeated Clopton on Friday in the Class 2 State Quarterfinal, where White turned in a strong performance with his teammates in the 59-43 victory. With the support of White’s family, Salisbury school officials decided to proceed with the games in Springfield later this week. The Panthers are slated to face Hartville on Friday in the Class 2 Semifinal at Hammons Student Center in Springfield at 4 p.m.
“The next few months will likely be some of the hardest faced in our school,” the district shared in a press release. “We are here to assist in any way in order to help our students, faculty, and staff as everyone works through this tragedy.”
A candlelight vigil was held on Monday night at the Salisbury High School football field.
