
MISSOURI — Organic materials available in gardens or farms such as grass clippings, fallen leaves and kitchen scraps can be utilized to make a valuable product, compost. Compost provides valuable organic matter to gardens, can improve soils, and provides a source of essential nutrients to plants. In the workshop on Tuesday, Oct. 18, speakers discuss the benefits of compost and detail the steps necessary to produce a great finished compost. Presenters will touch on preparation of compost, vermicompost, Bokashi compost, compost tea, green manures and utilizing animal manures in the gardens and flower beds.
