
PIKE COUNTY, Mo. — The Pike County Health Department provides up to four Safe Sitter® and two Safe@Home® courses each summer. Each class is a one day course taught in the Pike County Health Department community conference room. Those interested MUST sign up for these classes in advance as they fill quickly.
Safe Sitter® Course Description:
Safe Sitter® prepares students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting. Students learn life-saving skills such as how to rescue someone who’s choking, and helpful information like what to do if there’s severe weather. The lessons are filled with fun activities and role-playing exercises. Students even get to use CPR manikins to practice CPR and choking rescue!
Safe Sitter Courses are typically 9am-4:15p and students should bring a sack lunch. $35 Registration Fee.
Safe@Home by Safe Sitter® Class Description:
Safe@Home by Safe Sitter® is a program designed for students in grades 4-6 to prepare them to be safe when they are home alone. It is a 90-minute program that teaches students how to practice safe habits, how to prevent unsafe situations, and what to do when faced with dangers such as power failures or weather emergencies. Students are also introduced to the Safe Sitter® First Aid Chart and learn a system to help them assess and respond to injuries and illnesses.
Safe@Home Courses are a 90 minute program that is $15 to register.
