WARRENSBURG, Mo. — Trap shooting is a way to sharpen shotgun skills or to enjoy a competitive sport. The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will offer a free trap shooting instruction session from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 26, at the University of Central Missouri shooting range at Warrensburg. MDC will provide shotguns and ammunition, or participants can bring their own shotgun.

In trap shooting, participants move to firing stations and different locations and shoot at flying clay pigeons. This class will teach basic shotgun handling skills and safety, trap range procedures and etiquette, and what type of shotguns and ammunition are recommended best. Instructor Mark Miller, MDC conservation educator, will work with participants as they shoot a full round of trap on the range. MDC will provide 12-gauge or 20-gauge ammunition.
