PIKE COUNTY, Mo. — The application waiting list for a rent-assistance program that covers 11 Missouri counties is closing.
The North East Community Action Corporation is making the move March 15th.
The agency says the number of applications has reached the point where names could be on the list for up to two years before a rent-assistance voucher becomes available.
Closing the waiting list is not uncommon. The current list has accepted applications since May 1st, 2020.
The counties affected are Lewis, Macon, Marion, Monroe, Montgomery, Pike, Ralls, Randolph, Shelby and Warren. Not affected is St. Charles County
The program provides partial rent payments for low to moderate income residents.
NECAC administers more than 1,850 vouchers in the 11 counties. The agency will make notification once the waiting list re-opens.
