LOUISIANA, Mo. — Monday afternoon the Louisiana Chamber of Commerce made the announcement the annual Country Colorfest will return to the third weekend in October beginning in 2022. Below is the full announcement.

The Louisiana Chamber of Commerce board of Directors is pleased to announce that Louisiana Colorfest 2022 will be returning to its traditional date, the third weekend in October.

In 2019 the board made an active effort to review the impact of Colorfest and evaluate its future. In these discussions, the board considered factors such as vendor availability, vendor quality, attendance, resources, volunteer efforts, expenses and business involvement. All of this was then weighed with community input, followed by a public poll of members and community stakeholders evaluating the possibility of date change. The topic itself was not at that time new and had been discussed on occasion in the past as former boards also sought ways to bolster the event.

The year 2020 saw a pause to Colorfest in light of the COVID-19 pandemic and led us to debuting the new Colorfest format in 2021. The board commends the labors of the 2021 Colorfest Committee, a group of community stakeholders, business owners and other volunteers, who gave their all sacrificing much of their personal time and energy toward a revitalized effort aimed at injecting new energy and life into Colorfest. Their work paid off and the result was highly commendable, even with dampened weather.

Yet, the chamber takes into account the commentary of our members (area businesses and business owners) as well as local citizens as we evaluate the impact of Colorfest 2021 and plan for the future. Community concerns and public input have been greatly weighed by the board, and after much discussion — as well as thoughtful consideration — we feel reverting to the traditional date will fit the community’s needs and event’s historical functions better in the long term.

We now encourage all members of the community who value Colorfest, and are hopeful of seeing its traditions continue, to consider stepping up to serve as part of the 2022 Colorfest Committee and its volunteer effort. This group will kick off the plans for October 15-16, 2022 on January 12th with a meeting at 6 pm in the basement of City Hall.
