PIKE COUNTY, Mo. — Honored guest Bill McIlroy, left, shares a laugh with former Pike County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Fisher, center, and retired 10th Circuit Judge Robert M. Clayton II during a celebrity roast Oct. 30 sponsored by Champ Clark Honey Shuck Restoration Inc. More than 100 people gathered at the Knights of Columbus Hall in St. Clement to hear the longtime Bowling Green attorney verbally skewered. A University of Missouri theme – including decorations, tableware and auction items – was used in tribute to McIlroy’s undergraduate and law school alma mater. Roasters included McIlroy’s brother, John, his sister, Margaret Goodin, McIlroy and Millan law partner Malaine Hagemeier and Louisiana attorney Rex Bradley. In addition to taking barbs, McIlroy got in a few himself and said he was “proud to be asked” to participate. The idea was conceived by Honey Shuck board member and 45th Circuit Judge Patrick S. Flynn. The event was a fundraiser for Honey Shuck, the Bowling Green home of former U.S. Speaker of the House Champ Clark. The house was bought and preserved by Congressman Bill Hungate and his wife, Dottie. Their son, David, bass player for the rock band Toto, attended the dinner. More information about the Clark family and the home is available by visiting www.champclark.org.
