
LOUISIANA, Mo.– The Mark Twain Tigers were victorious, defeating the Louisiana Bulldogs 40-13 on Friday night. The EMO Conference meeting put the wraps on the 2021 regular season. Mark Twain has a record of 6-1 in conference play and Louisiana is 2-5. Both teams are now preparing for district play which is set to begin Friday, October 29.
Louisiana’s defensive line seemed unstoppable in the first half, taking a toll on Mark Twain’s offensive drives. The Tigers made the first step across the line into the end zone, going up 6-0 in the first quarter. Louisiana’s response in the second quarter put the Bulldogs on top, following a touchdown and an extra point. With 5:37 to play in the half, it was Mark Twain taking the lead. Holding on to a lead of 12-7, the Tigers and the Bulldogs made it back to the locker rooms to strategize their moves for the second half.
In the second half, Mark Twain’s offense was able to find their spark. A big third quarter for the men in blue and white was a major shift in momentum. The Tigers were on fire, scoring three touchdowns, bringing the score to 32-7. The Bulldogs offensive drive with less than a minute to go in the third quarter was a success. Louisiana’s Kenny McCormick catch made a statement for the Bulldogs, bringing the score to 32-13 heading to the final quarter of play.
Mark Twain’s offense remaining quiet for much of the final quarter was able to make one more big push. It was Lakoda Preston making a big run, allowing the Tigers to secure the EMO Conference victory 40-13.
Mark Twain moves to 7-1 on the season with their big win on Friday, and Louisiana drops to one game below .500 with a record of 4-5.
