PIKE COUNTY, Mo. — Is your home sick? If so, North East Community Action Corporation has a remedy.
It’s called Healthy Homes, and the initiative just got a 75 thousand dollar boost.
The money comes from UnitedHealthcare as part of 500 thousand dollars in funding to Missouri agencies that are working to improve the health of Missourians.
NECAC developed Healthy Homes in 2015 and has gotten national recognition for it. The idea is to create healthier living conditions by upgrading ventilation systems while removing environmental hazards and contaminants such as mold and lead paint
The program covers Lewis, Lincoln, Macon, Marion, Monroe, Montgomery, Pike, Ralls, Randolph, Shelby, St. Charles and Warren.
To qualify, applicants must place their names on the waiting list for the NECAC weatherization program. To do so, call NECAC Housing Development at 573-324-6622 or one of the agency’s 12 service centers.
