WARSAW, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host a free fur trapping clinic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Lost Valley Fish Hatchery in Warsaw. This clinic will provide newcomers the training they need to begin trapping furbearers and handling furs for marketing. Modern trapping is regulated to benefit natural resources. Trappers play a role in keeping furbearer populations in balance with their habitats.

This clinic is hosted in partnership with the Missouri State Trappers Association. Experts will provide an overview of trapping. Techniques and strategies for setting traps both on land and in water will be explained and demonstrated. Discussions will also include skinning and how to process furs for marketing.

The clinic is open to participants age 8 and older. COVID-19 precautions will be followed. There will be a lunch break, but lunch will not be provided. Participants must make their own provisions for lunch. Registration is required. To register, visit https://short.mdc.mo.gov/Zyr.
