PIKE COUNTY, Mo. — A Ladies Luncheon and Purse Auction fund raiser was held on Saturday, September 25th to raise funds for installing a Blue Star Memorial at the new Visitors Center in Bowling Green. This event was sponsored by the Clarksville Garden Club.
“The event was a wonderful success, and we raised all the funds needed to get the Memorial installed, “ stated Diana Huckstep, club member and event organizer. “ I would like to thank everyone for attending and for their generous bids, and our great auctioneers, Don & Sue Beck of B& B Auctions in Elsberry, MO. Also, the Steamboat Bistro and their wonderful staff for helping to make the day such a huge success. The food was wonderful and the service was outstanding. They really bent over backwards to make everything just right, ” stated Huckstep.
The Garden Club will be ordering the Memorial in hopes for delivery and installation in the Spring of 2022. They are hoping for additional donations to help with the cost of landscaping around the Memorial to help make it a pleasing tribute to our past and current Military members. If you would like to help by making a donation to this project, please contact the Club Treasurer, Joe Pridgeon at: 573-754-0243.

You do not have to live in Clarksville to be a member of the Garden Club. “Our members are from all over Pike County and we would love to welcome you as a member,” stated Joyce Lewis, Club President. “Our meetings are designed to be educational as well as fun, and we are a member of the Federated Garden Clubs of Missouri, ” stated Mrs. Lewis.
