VANDALIA, Mo. — The Louisiana Bulldogs picked up their second straight win of the season as they defeated EMO Conference foes the Van-Far Indians 41-6.
While Van-Far continues to struggle finding their footing, they did see some bright spots in running back Brandon Eoff as he put together several back-to-back runs for the Indians. Most times, Eoff was carrying several opponents on his back as he gained yardage. Van-Far’s lone touchdown of the night came on a run in by Gage Gibson with just under two minutes to go in the first quarter.
Louisiana on the other hand is starting to find their way both on the offensive and defensive side of the ball. Ethan Harrison started the scoring off of the Bulldogs in the first with a run in with 6:22 left if the first. However, that wasn’t his only trip to the end zone, he also opened the second half up with a touchdown. Mason Washington also found the end zone twice for the Bulldogs and defensively he held the Indians from the scoring as time was winding down in the first half when he went airborne and pulled down the interception to end the half. Bulldog Quincy Hutt racked up some yards on the ground as he weaved his way through the Van-Far defense and even added a touchdown to his stat line as the first quarter was coming to an end.
The Bulldog’s defense had a lot to hang their hat on for the evening with numerous quarterback sacks, a blocked kick and in the second half, big man Ryan Capps snagged an interception and ran it back in for a touchdown capping off the night for Louisiana.
Van-Far’s defense had their bright moments as well. The Indians fought for a fumbled kick-off return and Nikos Connaway grabbed one in the air to add an interception to the highlights of his evening.
Louisiana will now move on to face Missouri Military Academy for their homecoming ceremonies next Friday night. Bulldog head coach Greg Pitzer said he’s hoping the team can keep the momentum going and do something the Bulldog program hasn’t done in awhile, win three in a row.
The Van-Far Indians will look for their first win of the season as they host South Callaway.
