
KJFM SPORTS– The Silex Lady Owls defeated the Mark Twain Lady Tigers 11-0 in five innings on Tuesday night. The EMO Conference win was Silex’s fourth win in a row.
Taylor Howard shut down Mark Twain, throwing a complete-game shutout. The pitcher allowed three hits and zero runs over five innings, striking out six and walking one.
Silex got on the board in the first inning, with a double from Tori Mudd on a 1-1 count. The double drove in two runs for the ladies in green and black.
The Lady Owls secured the victory thanks to six runs in the second inning. Contributing to the big inning included Abagail Mooney, Rita Thoroughman, Howard, Sarah Weatherford, Gwen Gilbert, and Tori Mudd, all driving in runs in the inning.
Silex racked up 16 hits in the conference battle. Tori Mudd was successful at the plate going 3-for-4 to lead the team in hits.
Junior Madison Epperson took the loss for Mark Twain. The hurler went four and a third innings, allowing 11 runs on 16 hits and striking out one.
Silex will be back in action Thursday night at home for another EMO Conference match against the Wright City Wildcats. First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m.
