
SILEX, Mo. — The Lady Owls took to the home field Tuesday hosting conference opponent, the Louisiana Lady Bulldogs in an early season conference game where the Lady Owls picked up an 11-0 win in five innings.
Starting their first game at home, Silex came out of the gate with three quick outs and a scoring run by leadoff hitter Taylor Howard off of a triple and an error which resulted in an in the park home run in the first inning. Three runs in the second and another added in the third, led to an explosive 6-run fourth inning. The Lady Owls offense in the inning came from a triple by Karlie Ellis, a single by Tayah Williams, an error on a ball put in play by Maddy Hall, and a double by Sara Grateke.
A solid outing by Lady Owl’s pitcher Howard stranded five runners on base, surrendered zero runs and allowed only one hit, keeping the Lady Bulldogs scoreless through the game-ending fifth inning. Louisiana’s Alli Jenkins was the only batter who made solid contact off Howard, getting a single in the fourth inning.
Silex moves to 3-1 with Louisiana dropping to 1-3 to start off the second week of the season.
Louisiana travels to Van-Far on Thursday for a 5 p.m. first pitch EMO conference duel, while Silex returns to their home field in a non-conference match-up against Audrain County’s Community Lady Trojans.
