CLARKSVILLE, Mo. — As you drive along Highway 79 between Louisiana, MO and south toward St. Louis, there a gem of a location that is hidden away behind the scenery, the Village of the Blue Rose. The Clarksville Garden Club decided that better signage was needed in order for folks to be able to find this gem that sits on the river.
The Clarksville Garden Club hosted a Ladies Luncheon and Purse Auction at the Village of the Blue Rose, in 2019. The fundraiser was a huge success and raised all the needed funds to get the signs in place. Then Covid hit and things came to a “ snails pace.”
During the time between the Ladies Luncheon and Purse Auction in 2019 and June 2021, work on the signs, the polls and organizing installation continued. The Clarksville Garden Club‘s mission was finally accomplished on Thursday, June 24, 2021 with the installation of the signs for the Village of the Blue Rose, on Highway 79. The new signs sport the image of the Village logo.
“We are so happy to have this project completed and the signs look wonderful,“ said club president Joyce Lewis. “Many thanks to everyone that helped make this project happen. It is our hope that people will now be able to find this lovely little gem of a bed-and-breakfast and restaurant with ease, in our beautiful Pike County,” said Mrs. Lewis.
