PIKE COUNTY, Mo. — A local agency is being honored for overseeing a loan program in Missouri, Illinois and Iowa.

USDA Rural Development recognized the North East Community Action Corporation. NECAC was honored for its achievement as a loan packager and intermediary for the USDA 502 Single Family Housing Program.

The presentation was made as part of the June observance of National Homeownership Month.

As a packager, NECAC puts together the loan for qualifying people. As an intermediary, the agency oversees other non-profits that package loans.

In last seven years, NECAC has packaged 57 of the 502 loans and has helped extend the program to one not-for-profit packager in Illinois, one in Iowa and four in Missouri.
