ELSBERRY, Mo. — The Elsberry Indians are heading to the State Final Four for the first time in the school’s baseball history after a dramatic 6-4 victory over the Father Tolton Trailblazers on Thursday night.
The Indians erased a 4-0 deficit with a two-run single from Joel Mound in the bottom of a three-run fifth inning.
Facing elimination, Elsberry sophomore Kaden Kinsler drove in two runs on a single in the bottom of the sixth to give the Indians the lead.
Gavin Woodson pitched around a hit in the seventh, inducing a pop up to Will Stonebreaker at first to seal the win for the Indians.
Elsberry will play either Linn or Skyline in the MSHSAA Class 3 Semifinal on Wednesday at US Baseball Park in Ozark, MO.
The game is set for 1:30 p.m.
