PIKE COUNTY, Mo. — The Pike County, MO Fair Board has announced on Monday that country music artist Jameson Rodgers will be the headliner for this year’s fair on Saturday night.
Rodgers, a singer and songwriter in Nashville, has already had success with “Some Girls” reaching the top of country charts in 2020. His current single “Cold Beer Calling My Name,” which features Luke Combs, is in the process of working its way up the charts as well. Speaking of Combs, in an interview given to Taste of Country, Rodgers says it was a message from Combs that catapulted him from the Nashville circles to the country music mainstream.
“[At the time] Luke Combs was not Luke Combs,” he continues. “This was before ‘Hurricane’ was a hit; he sends me a message, he had heard my song ‘Midnight Daydream’ and became a fan so he was like, ‘Man, we should write sometime.'”
During the interview Rodgers added that he and Combs became buddies and eventually the two went on tour together in 2019.
Rodgers is a 2020 MusicRow Award Winner of the Robert K. Oermann Discovery Artist of the Year and 3-time AIMP Nashville Award Nominee for 2018 Rising Artist-Writer of the Year and 2019 and 2020 Rising Songwriter of the Year. Plus, he recently made his Grande Ole Opry debut.
