BOWLING GREEN, Mo. — Jack Jones, right, drops coins into the kettle Nov. 27 outside the Bowling Green Walmart for the Salvation Army’s Christmas campaign in Pike County. Ringing bells is volunteer Chad Perkins. In addition to kettle contributions, donors can round up their purchase inside Walmart and have the difference donated to the Salvation Army.
The not-for-profit North East Community Action Corporation (NECAC) is overseeing the annual fund-raiser, and welcomes volunteers to ring bells each day through Dec. 24. The goal this year has been raised to $10,000 due to increased needs caused by the COVID pandemic. People who would like to volunteer for short shifts between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily should call the NECAC Pike County Service Center at 573-324-2207.
