
BOWLING GREEN, Mo. — Bowling Green boys cross country team picked up their 20th win in the past 21 years over the weekend at the EMO Conference Cross Country meet held at the Pike County Fairgrounds.
The Bobcats came in first followed by North Callaway, Wellsville, Elsberry and Montgomery County rounded out the top five teams. The overall individual winner on the boy’s side was Dawson McCown of Montgomery County followed by Tristan Webb of North Callaway and then Colton Hearn was the first Bobcat to move across the finish line. Ben Chance, Trenton Griffith and Jose Soto rounded out Bowling Green’s top 12. Elsberry Indians Josiah Heras came in ninth and Christopher Dowell finished 12th. Clopton’s first runner, Hunter Burt, just missed the All-Conference team by one as he came in 13th. Runners who finished in positions one through sixth were named to first team and runners in seventh through 12th were named to second team.

In the girls run it was North Callaway coming in first place followed by Montgomery County. The Bowling Green Lady ‘Cats placed third then Mark Twain and Wellsville completed the top five teams. The Lady Wildcats of Montgomery had the first two runners to cross the finish line in Lyric Ford ad Malia Rodgers. Bowling Green had three runners in the top ten starting with Rachel Klott finishing seventh; Megan McMillen, ninth and Bailee Kent, tenth. Just outside of the all-conference teams, Silex’s Abigail Mooney placed 15th and Clopton’s Taylor Akers, 16th.

“This was our best meet of the season as a group,” noted Bobcats Head Coach Matt Chance. “We had nine kids run season best times and several that had new personal records. We will continue to focus on the district meet in two weeks and hopefully we can continue to improve to have an opportunity to qualify for state.”
