RALLS COUNTY, Mo. — The EMO Conference has lost its first game due to COVID-19 as the Mark Twain Tigers have to cancel their match-up with South Callaway opening week, Friday, Aug. 28th.
The Tigers and their coaching staff had to enter quarantine after a player tested positive. Everyone will be released and able to return to practice on Tuesday, Aug. 25th. According to message from Mark Twain Athletic Director Cody McCann the team will have to start over on the heat/equipment acclimatization period of six days, meaning two days in helmets, three days in shells and one day of full pads. That means there is no way the team can be ready for South Callaway on Friday.
The team will also have to meet the requirement of 14 days of conditioning before their first game. They had some practices in prior to going into quarantine, but to make sure they have enough days, the week two game between the Tigers and Clopton/Elsberry IndianHawks will be moved to Saturday, Sept. 5 at Mark Twain. During the game with the IndianHawks, all the fall seniors for Mark Twain will be recognized prior to the game and Jacquie Stuart Night will be celebrated at halftime.
