PIKE COUNTY, Mo. — As healthcare facilities work to be stocked and prepared to handle patients in the midst of the COVID-19 crisis, a donation of face shields from a St. Louis company to Pike County Memorial Hospital (PCMH) and the Pike County Health Department (PCHD) was most welcome.
Both facilities shared their appreciation with posts on social media today (Tuesday, March 31) for Chris Lozano and his staff at Halcyon Shades. The company manufactures solar shades utilizing a technology that was originally developed by NASA to dispense light while maintaining a constant temperature. Lozano had his staff switch production to developing face shields used by healthcare workers for protection.
Lozano presented the shields to staff at both facilities today.
“We simply cannot express the amount of support we feel from our community at this time,” PCMH reported.
Staff at both facilities shared their gratitude and posed for a photo, while adhering to proper social distancing rules
