BOWLING GREEN, Mo. — The following message was released Tuesday, March 17, from The Learning Center in Bowling Green's Coordinator, Rebecca Glenn:
We are doing all we can to remain open for day care as we know so many of you depend on us. That said, we are implementing some new procedures. We are grateful to the Pike County Health Department for suggesting these changes and for being our partner in our effort to stay healthy.
1. Starting Wednesday, March 18, 2020, we will take the temperature of every person, adult or child, who enters our building. Staff will greet families at the front door and take temperatures. We have three (3) thermometers which can be used under arms. They are quick response and usually show a temp in about 90 seconds. However, there may be a delay at the door as we implement this procedure. Please plan for that.
2. If we send anyone home with a fever, they cannot come back to work or school for 48 hours. The normal time for staying out is 24 hours.
3. Our staff will escort children into our building and sign them in. Families will no longer come into our building to drop off or pick up. In the evening, we will greet you at the door, get your children and bring them to you.
We know that these changes will be confusing to children initially and we may have some children who are upset. Our goal is to reduce traffic in our building so that we can stay open. Please talk with your children about the changes so they can be prepared. These are new safety rules. Kids understand safety.
We know that there will be some glitches with these new procedures. We know there will be some delays. We know there might be some frustrations. However, we also know you want us to stay open and understand that these are remarkable times calling for remarkable measures.
As the situation changes, we may make more changes. We appreciate your cooperation.
