BOWLING GREEN, Mo. – A new display is being designed in preparation for the 170th anniversary of Champ Clark's birth on Saturday, March 7 at Honey Shuck.
The historic museum home, at 207 E. Champ Clark Drive, will be open to the public for tours from 1-3 p.m. on Saturday. Refreshments of birthday cake and ice cream will be served at the event.
Clark was Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and narrowly was defeated for the 1912 Democratic presidential nomination. This year marks the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment giving women the right to vote. Clark, his wife, Genevieve, and their children, Bennett and Genevieve, all campaigned for women’s suffrage.
