ELSBERRY, Mo. — Elsberry is moving to a 4-day school week, according to the school board. The announcement was just made that the Elsberry R-II Board of Education has been studying the issue of transitioning to a 4 day school week. The board conducted staff and parent/community surveys and conducted two community meetings about the topic. The survey results showed support among staff and parent/community members for making this change, 62% of staff were strongly in favor of the 4 day week and 70% of parents/community members either agreed or strongly agreed that they were in support of the 4 day school week. At last night's meeting, the Elsberry R-II Board of Education voted to switch to a 4 day school week for the 2020-21 school year. The 2020-21 calendar will be approved at the February board of education meeting and distributed shortly after the meeting.
