BOWLING GREEN, Mo. — Kevin Krietemeyer has announced his resignation as head football coach for the Bowling Green Bobcats.
Krietemeyer confirmed to KJFM Radio that he had met with his players to announce his decision. He had presented notice to the Bowling Green R-I administration prior to the Thanksgiving break.
He has been at the helm of the Bowling Green football program for three years. He said that he plans to look for other coaching jobs. The Bobcats finished this season 4-6. He was 3-7 in his first year and 7-5 his second year with Bowling Green.
"We want to thank Coach K for the past 3 years," stated athletic director Matt Chance. "He has brought a lot of enthusiasm and energy back to the Bobcat football team. The participation numbers have nearly tripled since he took over. We understand the time and effort it takes to be a head coach at any level. He has expressed that spending more time with his family is a major reason for his resignation."
Chance added that the school district will begin the search for a new head football coach immediately. He noted they will look internally and outside for the next football coach. It's the districts hope to have someone hired within the next 6-10 weeks. Chance also said Krietemeyer will stay on in his teaching role for the rest of the year and will be a track coach this spring.
