LOUISIANA, Mo. — The Twin Pike Family YMCA announced Wednesday that Gerald Ogletree has been hired as the organization’s new CEO.
The search and selection was made by the YMCA’s CEO Transition Committee. It was noted by YMCA Board President Mary Perkins that Ogletree brings extensive experience within the YMCA organization to the position, from establishing programs to his time spent as an executive branch director at the DA Turner YMCA in Columbus, Ga.
Perkins pointed out that Ogletree has been instrumental with establishing various partnerships at his current branch.
“We feel confident he will be a visionary leader to expand upon our already strong foundation, inspire new organizational growth, and address the most critical issues facing our communities,” Perkins stated.
Ogletree is a graduate of Columbus State University. He has served as executive branch director at DA Turner YMCA for over 10 years. His impressive years of involvement with the YMCA organization since his youth and wealth of knowledge with creating effective programs make him a valuable asset to the Twin Pike Family YMCA.
His professional career also includes over 10 years at Aflac, a Fortune 500 company. Ogletree will be taking over in early December and will succeed Eric Abts and Kara Viorel, who have been interim management for the past year. He is moving to the area with his wife and four-year-old daughter.
“The members of the CEO Transition Committee were committed to finding the right person to manage our unique and special YMCA,” Perkins explained. “The committee received many applications from a diverse group of people with Y and non-Y backgrounds. Our choice, Gerald Ogletree, fit all the criteria we outlined. He stood out to us like a bright, shining star. His enthusiasm is contagious and like he has said, ‘if you’re not excited – you’re not invited.’ His love of the Y and all the Y stands for is inspiring,” Perkins continued.
Perkins also served as chair of the search committee.
When Ogletree is not working he spends time with his wife and daughter, performs home renovations, enjoys the outdoors and trains his dogs.
