LOUISIANA — Charlie and Mary Perkins announced recently that they have sold their company, Trailerman Trailers, Inc., to Novae Corp., the second-largest trailer manufacturer in the United States.
Trailerman isn’t going anywhere, though. Novae Corp., based out of Markle, Ind., plan to continue the company’s operations and even expand the brand.
“Their plan is to expand Trailerman and grow it nationally, which means a lot more jobs for Pike County,” Charlie explained. “So we’re very excited about that.”
Charlie and Mary made the announcement on the Eagle 102 Morning Show on Tuesday, Nov. 5. After two decades of making the company an institution in Pike County, Missouri, they said they are ready to retire. They noted that Novae will be making capital investments into Trailerman.
“They are very good people and company,” Mary said.
She pointed out that it has always been important to them that Trailerman’s products continue to be produced in Pike County.
“We wanted to make sure that three things happened to our company when we were ready to leave.”
She explained those three things were the company taking over will take care of their employees, take care of their customers and the community, and that they will continue the brand name that those at Trailerman have worked so hard to make recognized in the industry.
“This company wants to continue the brand, continue the product and make more of them.”
Novae Corp., started making trailers in January of 2001. They opened their flagship headquarters in Markle, Ind., in 2005. The next year they were named to Inc. Magazine’s “Inc 500” which is a list of the fastest-growing privately-held companies in the country. Novae has made that list every year since.
Novae became the third-largest manufacturer of trailers in North America in 2011.
The company acquired H&H Trailers on Jan. 4, 2017. The company based in Clarinda, Iowa continues to operate under the name it was founded. The same is true for CAM Superline of Waynesboro, Penn., which Novae purchased on Aug 11, 2017.
Charlie and Mary will remain with the company through a transition period that could last more than a year.
