LOUISIANA – Centenary United Methodist Church of Louisiana is proud to welcome back the Lesters, of St. Louis, for a music concert in the church sanctuary on Friday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m., with a soup and chili supper taking place prior to the entertainment.
Folks are invited to attend the free concert at the church, located at 7th and South Carolina Streets. Often called "St. Louis' First Family of Gospel Music," the group has been sharing the word of God through song for four generations. With a more than 90-year history and numerous albums behind them, the group proudly brings the third and fourth generation to the stage for a sound that is 100 percent “Pure Lester.”
Their signature sound is a blend of inspired arrangements and vocal artistry, led by longtime performer Brian Lester. He also serves as emcee and manager; he has been singing with the family since he was four. His vibrant voice and easy rapport with audiences ministers to young and old alike.
As a fourth generation performer, Jonathan Lester brings a real freshness to the group. Like his father, Jon was born to sing, performing at a very young age. He is inspired by the generations of Lesters before him.
The newest vocal addition to The Lesters is Jonathan's wife, Bailee Lester. She has been inspired and influenced by listening to gospel music her entire life. Since a young child, her family would attend concerts at Meramec Caverns to hear all the great gospel groups.
A chili and soup supper will be served upstairs in the Centenary Annex from 5-7 p.m. preceding the concert. Tickets are available at the church in advance or can be purchased at the door. Carry-outs will be available. For more information, call 573-754-4412.
