LOUISIANA – Two sections of the historic Champ Clark Bridge on the Missouri side were blown late Friday afternoon.
Crowds of people gathered at River's Edge Motel, Riverview Park and other areas to witness history. The new Champ Clark Bridge opened following a large ceremony on Friday, Sept. 8.
The original Champ Clark Bridge was dedicated in 1928. It was only 20-feet wide and was increasingly becoming a safety concern. The new bridge is more than double the width of the original.
