LOUISIANA – One of the services offered by the Louisiana Community Food Pantry is the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) which are also called “senior boxes.”
This opportunity is sponsored by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services in conjunction with the USDA. It is administered in this area by the St. Louis Area Foodbank.
Senior boxes are designed to help aging adults with rounding out their diets by providing necessary vitamins and minerals contained in a variety of foods including juice, hot and ready-to-eat cereal, peanut butter, shelf-stable milk, and more.
To be eligible to receive a box, an individual must be at least 60 years of age and fall within a specific income range. The box is available monthly and must be picked up by the 25th of that month.
This program is available to all senior adults on a non-discriminatory basis.
