CLARKSVILLE – Clarksville United Methodist Church re-dedicated its refurbished 111-year-old stained glass windows at a special community service on Sunday, Oct. 6.
More than 50 people attended the half-hour event, which included descriptions of some frames by the Rev. Art Moore.
The re-dedication completes a campaign that raised $80,000 in just under five years — half the time the congregation thought it would take. The money was raised through dinners, tithes, donations and a grant from the Missouri United Methodist Foundation.
In addition to Biblical symbols, the colorful windows feature the names of pioneer church members, former pastors and family dedications. The church isn't done. Proceeds from its Oct. 12 Clarksville Applefest fried chicken dinner will go toward four new projects – resurfacing the basement floor, repairing broken plaster, painting the exterior and upgrading the outdoor steps leading to the sanctuary.
