LOUISIANA – The “Stitching and Ripping for the Lord” outreach group is having a Service of Blessing and Consecration at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Louisiana on Sunday, Oct. 6 at 3 p.m. and the public is encouraged to attend.

The group is an organization sponsored by the Louisiana Ministerial Alliance.

The group began approximately five months ago and in that short period of time there have been over 100 pillowcase dresses created that will be delivered to girls in Zambia, Africa. Over 150 preemie hats that will go to NICU units in two St. Louis hospitals, 80 knitted caps for school children in Louisiana and at BONCL School, 30 “pony tail” hats that have an opening at the top for those who wear their hair in a ponytail, 15 scarves for school children, and knitted hats for those who have lost their hair due to cancer treatments.

Over 50 prayer shawls will be donated to Pike County Hospice, along with dozens of face cloths that are hand-knitted, hand-crocheted, or specially decorated with embroidery. These face cloths will be wrapped around a bar of soap and included in shoeboxes for the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox project coordinated locally by Chadwick Dowell.

Those scheduled to participate in the worship service are Father William Korte, Judy Allwood, Win Cafer, the Rev. Ruth Ann Jones, Dorothy Webb, Sharon Kakouris, Pat Sommer, the Rev. Pat Glenn, and the Rev. Jay Ayers. Special music will be provided during the service.

There will be a reception at Seton Hall following the worship service.
