BOWLING GREEN – There was great weather and a big crowd for the 24th Annual Champ Clark Heritage Festival on Saturday, Sept. 14 in Bowling Green.
The event started with a free pancake breakfast that was provided by the First United Methodist Church at 7 a.m. The festivities kicked off at 9 a.m. with food and vendor booths opening around the square.
The festival featured a couple of new events this year including a kid’s corner with games and a bounce house. There was also a beer garden that remained open into the night with a cornhole tournament and live musical entertainment by Michael Moore and Vintage Viral.
The Downtown Revitalization Committee hosted a “Paint the Street” contest that included cash prizes. Food bingo was also sponsored by the group during the afternoon.
Festival-goers also enjoyed the quilt show at Community State Bank and the parade which started at the school. A special treat in the parade was the 399th Army Band from Fort Leonard Wood. Frank Berlin served as the parade marshal this year.
Organizers with the Bowling Green Chamber of Commerce said they were pleased with how the event turned out this year.
