David Hungate has been on many stages. But one being set up in Louisiana has his particular interest. It’s the dignitary platform at the dedication for the new Champ Clark Bridge. The ceremony is at 6:30 p.m. August 3rd.The retired musician’s parents, the late Congressman William Hungate and wife Dorothy, are credited with saving Clark’s landmark Bowling Green home, Honeyshuck. Hungate, an original member of the rock band Toto, had planned to attend. A recent back injury remains painful and likely will cause him to miss the ceremony, but he promises to be there in spirit. In addition to his work with Toto, Hungate has toured and recorded with a who's who of rock, country and pop music. As with Clark family members who will attend, Hungate is happy to see Champ's name retained for the new structure. He predicts the bridge dedication will be a historic and entertaining event, and that Champ deserves a big crowd.
