If you were the first person to arrive at the scene of a car wreck and you found a person inside bleeding, would you know what to do?
Or if you fell out of a deer stand and cut your leg on the way down, would you be able to slow the bleeding until help arrived?
Or if a co-worker got injured at work…What would you do?
Unfortunately, these are all very real scenarios, but people have the power to save lives if they know what to do. Life threatening bleeding happens unexpectedly and victims can die within minutes from uncontrolled bleeding. Like learning how to perform CPR for a cardiac arrest, Stop the Bleed-St. Louis will be at Ribs on the River on Saturday from noon to 5, teaching proper bleeding control techniques, including how to use your hands, dressings and tourniquets. Stop the Bleed is a national, non-for-profit organization, promoted by the American College of Surgeons and The Committee on Trauma. Come and learn how you can save a life and pick up a trauma first aid kit. We hope you will never need to use the information we are providing, but if you do encounter this situation, at least you will be prepared. We will have a booth at Ribs on the River, Saturday from noon to 5 and we look forward to seeing you all there.
