PIKE CO., Mo – Santa Claus helped kick off the Salvation Army kettle campaign in Pike County on Thanksgiving. The North East Community Action Corporation is again coordinating volunteers for the fund-raiser, which runs through Christmas.
People are needed to ring bells for a couple of hours at a time outside the Bowling Green Walmart. Day and evening hours are available, and the schedule is flexible.
This year's kettle campaign goal is $6,000, up from $5,000 in 2017. NECAC is signing up local groups, churches, businesses, clubs and individuals to ring bells. Eighty-five percent of the donations will stay in Pike County to help those in need. More information is available by calling NECAC Pike County Service Coordinator Chandra Roberts at 573-324-2207.
