The legacy of a man who almost became president is being celebrated this Saturday

The 23rd annual Champ Clark Heritage Festival takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on and around the Bowling Green square. Activities include a free pancake breakfast, crafts, car and truck show, quilt exhibition and entertainment. There will also be tours of Champ Clark’s home, Honey Shuck.

Clark was a Bowling Green lawyer and Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives when he ran for president in 1912. He was narrowly defeated for the Democrat nomination by Woodrow Wilson, who went on to serve two terms as commander-in-chief.
