The historical sign highlighting the Stark family and Stark Brothers Nurseries was dedicated June 3. The ceremony took place on the grounds of the Stark cabin near the west edge of Louisiana.
The marker dedication was organized by the Missouri State Society Daughters of the American Colonists in conjunction with the nursery.
Brothers Clay and Walter Logan were among the speakers. They are the sixth generation of the Stark family, and members of the seventh and eighth generations were in attendance along with dozens of others.
The guests included Mary Armstrong, National Society Daughters of the American Colonists president. Ken Lane, Stark Brothers' chief marketing officer, spoke on behalf of the company.
The marker features wording on both sides, and traces the Stark family history along with the growth and development of the nursery, which was founded in 1816.
