A Pike County woman is a top state award winner. Janice Robinson of Bowling Green has received a prestigious leadership award from the Missouri Community Action Network. Robinson has been at North East Community Action Corporation for almost 50 years, and says she’s seen the difference the agency makes in people’s lives.
One case of thousands stands out. Robinson recalls an immigrant mother of two who moved to Missouri from California with no job and no place to live. NECAC provided assistance and put the woman on the path to a better life. She’s now a doctor who works in a hospital. Robinson said she’s truly honored by the award, but plans to keep on helping NECAC’s neighbors in need.
