A Northeast Missouri couple that fought for major social changes is getting new attention. An article about John and Mary Henderson of Louisiana is featured in the Spring/Summer issue of the Missouri Humanities Council magazine.
The story highlights John Brooks Henderson's drafting of the 13th Amendment outlawing slavery. It also showcases Mary Foote Henderson's role in the women's rights movement.
The Louisiana Bicentennial Committee is unveiling a bust of John Henderson on June 30th, with a dedication ceremony planned for July 4th.
