The Louisiana Country Colorfest will take place on October 21 and 22 in downtown Louisiana as it heads into its 33rd year. The two day event features craft and food vendors, main stage events and much more. The event will be Saturday 10:00am to 5:00pm and Sunday from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
The event kicks off with a welcome at main stage followed by the always popular Colorfest parade which will be led by this year’s Grand Marshals, Mike and Charity Lesley. Mike and Charity live and work here in Louisiana and have been volunteering on the Colorfest Committee for the past 5 years. “We both believe in the community and want to see Louisiana prosper,” Charity stated when asked why her and Mike give so much of their time each year to the event.
Saturday will be jam packed with fun for the whole family, including the Car show at the riverfront and the Fireman’s Challenge on 4th street between Georgia and South Carolina. Kids Korner will move west a few blocks this year to J&D Tire and Auto’s lot at 500 Georgia Street. Food and craft vendors will open immediately following the parade.
At the main stage on Saturday, following the parade, The Pee-Wee Cheerleaders will perform at 12:00pm followed by the Little Mister and Miss Colorfest pageant at 12:30pm. At 1:00pm, the Louisiana Outdoor Parks and Recreation Committee will be giving a big announcement about the Louisiana Aquatic Park Project. Following the Aquatic Park announcement, the Not-So-Newlywed Game will begin at 2pm. Beginning at 3pm, Amanda Jamison Art will be joining us at main stage for Kids N Kanvas, where 40 children will have the opportunity to paint a Halloween canvas for FREE!
Sunday will begin with the Motorcycle show at the riverfront at 10:30am. The baby show registration will begin at 12:30pm at mainstage, with the show starting at 1:00pm. The Great Mississippi River Duck race, put on by the Louisiana Lions club, will begin at 2:00pm at the riverfront. Amanda Jamison Art will join us once again at mainstage on Sunday, beginning at 2:30pm for another Kids N Kanvas painting session.
The Young Artist Art show will be located inside of Lesley’s Hallmark both days of Colorfest.
