A mental exam is being sought for a Louisiana woman accused of threatening to kill the city’s top cop and another officer.
Thirty-eight-year-old Kathryn Buesse is charged with felony assault and unlawful use of a weapon. She was arrested the afternoon of May 19th at a home on Nebraska Street on the north side of Louisiana.
In a probable cause statement, Officer Jason Maskey said he and Police Chief April Epperson tried to serve Buesse with an arrest warrant for allegedly failing to appear in court. Maskey said the suspect became angry, got an eight-and-a-half-inch knife from the kitchen and came at the officers with the weapon.
Maskey said he and the chief feared for their lives and alleges Buesse yelled “shoot me” when he drew his gun. According to the report, a man who was at the house grabbed the knife from the suspect, who barricaded herself in a bathroom. Authorities said they used pepper spray to force her out.
A court hearing had not been set Thursday (May 26). Records show Buesse faced three misdemeanor bad check charges and had been scheduled for a hearing Wednesday (May 25).
All persons charged with a crime are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
