Replacement of the Champ Clark Bridge at Louisiana tops the list of transportation projects in Northeast Missouri, but other high-priority Pike County work is included in the state’s five-year construction plan.
The list includes more than five million dollars for improving U.S. Highway 61 south of Eolia and about three million to upgrade U.S. Highway 54 from Route U to Highway 79 in Louisiana. Almost 700 thousand would be spent to upgrade the Highway 54 overpass on U.S. 61 at Bowling Green.
In addition, bridge replacements or improvements are planned on routes near Louisiana, Bowling Green, Clarksville, Curryville and Annada.
Replacing the Champ Clark Bridge accounts for most of the 88 million dollars in proposed Pike County projects featured in the five-year plan.
A public hearing on the location for the new bridge is June 9th. State regulators will decide upon the five-year plan on July 7th.
