A lack of oxygen is getting the blame for the deaths of about two dozen fish at Bowling Green City Park.
Several fish survived and were swimming Thursday (May 5) in the pond near Court Street, but dead ones dotted the surface near the south shore.
A spokeswoman said the city has talked to a fishery about what to do, but is still awaiting word on the matter. The fountain in the middle of the pond has been reactivated to help with oxygen content in the water.
The city did not introduce fish to the pond originally, but will take care of cleanup. Amphibians such as frogs can still be found along the waterway.
