Clarksville has another feather in its cap.
The Pike County community has been named one of the 10 prettiest small towns in the state by Missouri Life magazine.
Clarksville and the other winners are featured in the April/May issue of the publication, which has a photo with part of Clarksville’s First Street business district.
The magazine praises its antique shops, specialty stores, artisan businesses and restaurants, and says Clarksville is one of the best places in Missouri to see bald eagles each winter.
Perry is the only other Northeast Missouri town among the top 10. The same issues features a story on what struggling small towns are doing to meet today's challenges. One of them is Montgomery City.
Missouri Life says it specifically chose towns under one thousand residents for the prettiest town honors this year, but is expanding to communities under 25 hundred for 2017 and is already taking suggestions.
The publication’s website says copies are available at Walmart, Orscheln and County Market stores in Pike County.
