Pike County Commissioners are taking a preliminary look at health care costs.
The review is in response to changes being brought about this year by the federal Affordable Care Act, also known as Obamacare. Pike County is among mid-level employers that are facing updates to mandate provisions in the law.
The county currently pays a premium of more than 300 thousand dollars a year to fully cover about 60 employees. Workers can opt to add family members at their own expense. Discussions will likely center on whether to keep the plan or go to another type of insurance coverage.
The talks are in the early stages, so no deadlines have been set and no decisions have been made.
